Multiple Bounce Roll (Buzz Roll) | Introduction

An online drum lesson on the buzz roll.

This drum rudiment goes by many names: Formally as a ‘Multiple Bounce Roll’, but most people just call this exercise a buzz roll. Arguably, getting a snare buzz roll mastered is one of the top 3 most important factors to your playing. It such a unique sound, and technique, buzz rolls add an entirely new depth to your drumming.

Because the snare buzz roll take a little while to master, we’ve done this rudiment at a five different speeds for the first step in this course, spanning from 80 BPM to 160 BPM. We did this so you can take some time to get the technique under your hands at a slow speed, and then be able to connect the buzzes at a faster tempo, so it sounds like one long roll.

Practice Drumming is about getting a drumming workout.

Remember that our methodology in this website is not only to teach you about new drum rudiments, but to give you play along videos so you can actually make a practice session out of your time here.
